RDF donates more heifers to Gicumbi poor residents

GICUMBI - Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) this week donated three more cows to poor residents of Byumba and Kaniga sectors, Gicumbi district. The cows are part of the 20 earlier donated to other poor residents during the Army week period.

GICUMBI - Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) this week donated three more cows to poor residents of Byumba and Kaniga sectors, Gicumbi district. The cows are part of the 20 earlier donated to other poor residents during the Army week period.

This week’s hand over ceremony was conducted at Gicumbi stadium and presided over by RDF 408 Brigade commander Brig. General Eric Murokore.

"RDF has honoured its promise to donate these three cows to poor residents to enable them acquire better livelihood for  their families,” said Murokore.

He advised the beneficiary residents to take care of the cows by feeding and building good shelter for them, in order for the cows to generate high milk quantity for them.
Gicumbi District vice Mayor for Social Affairs, Eugenie Uwamahoro hailed RDF for their humanitarian efforts to eradicate poverty among poor residents.

"You should be proud of RDF because they are committed to eradicating poverty and diseases among Rwandans, in addition to guaranteeing national security,” said Uwamahoro.

One of the beneficiaries, Theophila Cyamunyana, hailed RDF for the donation, saying her children will no longer suffer from nutritional diseases.

"I am extremely happy to receive this cow. It will generate milk to eradicate malnutrition in our family in addition to boosting my income through the sale of surplus milk,” said Cyamunyana.
