SELLAS Tetteh, his backroom staff, the local football governing body (Ferwafa) and Amavubi fans have reason to smile after confirmation that Jean Baptista Mugiraneza a.k.a Migi will be available for Saturday’s 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast.

According to Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa, FC Koln has granted Migi permission to play for his country this Saturday.

"We (Ferwafa) have been in close contact with the FC Koln administration and they have agreed to release him for Saturday’s game. He is expected to be in Abidjan later today,” Kalisa said.

Migi traveled to Germany last week for a two-week professional trial stint at Bundesliga side FC Koln and was expected to miss the away qualifier.

Migi is now expected to man Amavubi’s midfield which also includes stand-in captain Haruna Niyonzima, Louis Aniweta and Jean Claude Iranzi.Meanwhile, Amavubi yesterday played out a 1-all draw in their final warm up game against SC Kiyovu.

Eric Serugaba put Kiyovu ahead with a clean strike on the 20th minute but Roger Tchouassi restored parity for Amavubi ten minutes from time.

The performance still left a lot to be desired. The defense was shaky with Didier Kapet and Aimable Rucogoza looking nervous at times.

Some fans also used the opportunity to criticise Tetteh’s decision to leave out renowned starters like Olivier Karekezi and Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti.

In Abidjan, Tetteh will rely on only two professionals; Saddou Boubakary (Oman) and Louis Aniweta (Cyprus).
Group H’s other tie between Benin and Burundi will be played in Porto-Novo.

The 2012 event will be jointly hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. For Rwanda to qualify, Amavubi need to top the group or at least finish as one of the best three qualifiers. Rwanda’s maiden appearance came back in 2004 under Rotamir Dujkovic.
