FARG deserves the very best administration

FARG is mandated to help Genocide Survivors.

Editor,

Although it seems as if the FARG (Fund for Support for Genocide Survivors) is always changing leadership I totally support what the line ministry is attempting to do. The Local Government Minister said that "it is a sensitive body because it deals directly with people’s welfare”.

When the Fund, which is meant to be a source of succour to those who lost everything in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, is misused to enrich undeserving people, it is like rubbing salt on the wounds of those already hurting. We cannot, as a country, have a situation where Survivors get cheated by the Fund’s administration and end up in rickety houses and what not.

We must keep tweaking the system until FARG is the best run institution in the country. It is our duty as Rwandans to make sure that this goal is achieved.

Those that use FARG to enrich themselves are criminals of the basest kind and I believe that they should be named, shamed and imprisoned.
