EDITOR,

READING the sports section of The NewTimes, yesterday, I learnt that the former skipper of the national football team, the Amavubi Stars, told local media that "my absence could cost Rwanda in Ivory Coast”.

While I believe that he’s one of the most talented players that Rwanda’s ever had, to think that he is indispensable is arrogant to say the least. We’ve had a team since eons ago and we’ll have a team after he retires. Personally, I support the coach’s decision because I think that it is time to groom our young players.

We cannot rely on the veterans for long and its better that we give the young players experience. One never knows, we might have a footballing genius waiting on the wings.
