Rwanda's Natty Dread battling cancer in Germany

Rwanda’s reggae ace Raphael Mitali, commonly known by his stage name, Natty Dread is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer in Hamburg, Germany.

The singer recalled that while he was on a vacation abroad he felt sick and went for treatment.

"I thank God that I am still breathing and recovering too. The hospital did everything they could to help me recover and get better but I believe that God has the last say on it all. I trust Jesus is with me during this journey, "he said.

The 53-year-old reggae singer revealed that there is a possibility for the cancer to be cured. He is still undergoing physiotherapy and when he is done, he will come back to Rwanda.

Natty Dread is a singer and songwriter who started exploring his music career in 1990. Over the past years, Natty has staged more than 250 concerts and shows in different countries across the world, including: France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Israel, Rwanda, Uganda, Ghana and U.S.A.

Natty Dread met and lived with legendary Jamaican reggae music icon Bob Marley in the late 1970’s.
