RWANDA continued her dominance in the region after winning four medals on day one of the Great Lakes Paralympic Games in Nairobi’s Nyayo stadium yesterday.

Hermas Muvunyi won two gold medals after dominating the 100m and 400m races. The sprinter clocked 11.41seconds in 100m and 50.29second in the 400m category.
Jean Claude Ndayisenga finished second on both occasions to gift Rwanda two silver medals.

In 1500m, 2004 bronze medalist Jean de Dieu Nkundabera could not emulate his 2004 heroics after finishing outside the medal bracket. Nkundabera finished 6th.

Top performers in the championship will earn automatic qualification to the IPC World Championships scheduled for next January in Christchurch, New Zealand.
