TIGO targets upcountry clients

GICUMBI - The Marketing Manager of the Mobile phone operator, TIGO, Nina Claudia Ndabaneze, has said they expect to register more clients from upcountry, because that is where the majority of Rwandans are based.

Ndabaneze, made the remarks during a TIGO promotion campaign in Byumba town, on Saturday.

"TIGO has so far registered over 500,000 clients, most of whom are based in the rural areas. That is why we are putting more effort in making our products affordable, reliable and available to all Rwandans,” Ndabaneze said.

She further said that the the primary objective of the telecommunications company is to work hand-in-hand with the government to steer economic development in the country.

One of the TIGO promoters at Byumba Taxi Park, Simon Ntare, said they are more TIGO products because they are cheaper.

A resident of Byumba Sector, Antoine Mwungire, hailed TIGO for availing cheap mobile phones to clients.

"TIGO mobile phones are affordable in the rural areas, where they help traders and farmers to cheaply coordinate their economic activities on phone,” said Mwungire.

A student of Byumba APAPEB High School, Jean Baptiste Hagenimana, hailed TIGO for enabling students to acquire mobile handsets and airtime cheaply.

"TIGO has enabled boarding School students to communicate with their parents effectively,” said Hagenimana.
