Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti is upset with Ferwafa’s move to block his return to the national team after two years in international wilderness.

The former national team captain, who plays in Cyprus Premier league, told Times Sport through an e-mail over the weekend that Ferwafa never responded positively to his request to return to the national team set up.

Instead the local football body responded by asking him for (the) reasons why he quit in the first place and what (reasons) made him to reconsider his position .

"That letter (from Ferwafa) surprised me because when I was considering to retire, no one asked me the  reasons as to why I wanted to retire yet there were plenty of them and I was willing to explain.

"I feel at the moment, I won’t explain anything to Ferwafa neither will I ever waste my time writing letters, as if begging for their response. The letter I wrote last year was the last one,” Ndikumana said.

Ndikumana further added, "If they (Amavubi Stars coaching staff) summon me, I’m always available, I will honor their call, come and play without any hesitation.”

In 2006, the ex-Rayon Sports star wrote to Ferwafa authorities expressing his desire not to be considered for national team duty anymore after he was stripped off the team’s captaincy.

The experienced defender was stripped of the Amavubi captaincy two years ago in the wake of reports that he had received a bribe to fix the Rwanda vs Angola 2006 World Cup decisive qualifier at Amahoro stadium.

Rwanda lost the game 0-1, a result that guaranteed Angola a place at World Cup finals held in Germany, at the expense of Nigeria.

After several pleas, Katauti considered a return to the national team, thus writing to Ferwafa last November; however, his request fell on deaf ears, much to his disappointment.

The 30-year-old defender featured in the Uefa Cup championship last year before being eliminated by English side Tottenham Hotspurs.
