Ferwafa vice president, Veduste Kayiranga and Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa are flying out to Ghana to attend a Caf Congress set for January 18.

The pair departs today aboard Rwandair Express to attend the one-day Congress, which precedes the African Nations Cup kick off on January 20.

Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that they are representing Ferwafa president Brig. Gen. John Bosco Kazura who is busy with other official commitments.

"Kazura is busy and can’t manage to attend the congress,” Kalisa said.

The pair will watch the Nations’ Cup opener between Ghana and Guinea on Sunday plus the Namibia vs Morocco game on Monday before returning on Tuesday. In a related development, Fifa referee Celestin Ntagungira ‘Abegga’ left for Ghana on Monday to officiate at the Nations Cup finals. He is the only Rwandan referee (assistant) at the event.

Ntagungira remains the most successful Rwanda referee, having featured at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and Nations’ Cup in Egypt.

He was named by Caf on the list of the 32 referees who will officiate at this year’s CAN edition.

Uganda’s Mohammed Ssegonga is the only centre referee from the Cecafa region, with also two other assistant referees; Angesom Ogbamariam (Eritrea) and Desire Gahungu (Burundi). Meanwhile, newly appointed Amavubi head coach Tomislav Obradovic returns this evening from a short holiday in his native Croatia.

Tomislav replaced his compatriot Josip Kuze as Rwanda’s national team head coach after the later ‘jumped’ out of a two-year contract to up what he described as ‘good package’ from Japanese J-League side JEF United Chiba believed to be around $400,000 per season.
