NYAGATARE - Umutara Polytechnic University (UPU) will, on August 27, hold it’s first beauty pageant.

The ceremony to crown Mr/Miss UPU will be held at Green Land Bar and Restaurant in Nyagatare District.

According to Imena group, the organisers of the event, many students have expressed interest to compete for the title.

Miss Kibungo Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education, Louise Mukazana, who will be the guest of honour, urged contestants to be ready for the competition and be in position to move the audience.

The initiator of beauty pageants at the National University of Rwanda (NUR), Dr. Jean Pierre Higiro, said that the winners play a key role in society including advocating for vulnerable orphans and raising awareness on the negative effects of drugs among the youth.
