I loved Joseph Rwagatare’s article published in this publication on Tuesday ("When media turns tyrant”)!

I truly wish it could be published in all the "important” newspapers and on the "important” websites (New York Times, Globe and Mail, BBC World and CNN) so that the people of the world could see and understand how "twisted” the reports on Rwanda have been!

As a daily reader of The New Times and the mentioned publicationsI get so frustrated by how the media turns things around to suit their purposes.

Why can’t they report on all the wonderful things that are happening in Rwanda?

They all want to report, as you mentioned, that Rwanda would be nothing without the financial aid/support of the international community.

You and I know differently and I wish, with all my heart, that there was some way to make the world see the truth.

Our government here in Canada "dictates” to us in many ways (amount of taxes to be paid, wear your seatbelts, control hunting, impose fishing quotas, control our grain prices, control what our farmers can sell their beef/dairy/pork/agricultural products for) but I don’t see the press calling our government and its leaders "oppressive, authoritarian or dictatorial.”

The double standard makes me so angry!  But I guess ‘good’ news isn’t nearly as interesting as the ‘bad’ news! 

I want you know that there are people out here who have a tremendous amount of faith in Rwanda, her leaders and her people. 

We will continue to stand behind you and tell the people around us how special your beautiful country is!
