88 Rwandan models have been selected to win a chance to participate at the most prestigious runways in the world to be held in Dubai and Italy this year which are the Dubai International Fashion Week, The Look of the Year and World Top Model.

The Registration process closed on January 12, while the selected models will be voted for until preselection of the top 30 models on February 4. The top 30 selection will have five most voted for, five public choices, five best in virtual casting and 15 by judges.

On February 9, models will do photoshoots and video presentations ahead of the finale of the contest. During the finale only four lucky models will be selected as Rwanda’s Global Top Models and will participate at the international fashion events. Among the four winners include the model with the most votes, a model chosen by the public and two models selected by judges.

On March 3, a final winner’s dinner and send off ceremony will be held.

Organised by Embrace Africa, the Model contest aims at sending Rwandan models in World fashion events that have developed famous top models like Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen who are among the three top paid models in the world.

In an early interview with Paulette Ndekwe, the organizer told The New Times that this is indeed a huge opportunity to all Rwandan models that look forward to broadening their modelling career and take it to a much bigger stage.

"No Rwandan model has ever participated on the stage of any of these world fashion events. They will get a chance to perform at Dubai International Fashion that won an award as the best fashion event in Dubai right now and ‘The look of the year’ which will be held in Italy as well as ‘World Top Model. The registration is underway so we ask models in Rwanda to try their chance and for those who will win; it will be a life changing experience in their careers.
