Emmanuel K. Gasana, Commissioner General of Police.

Rwanda has just concluded and witnessed one of the most democratic, safe and peaceful elections in the region.
As it was witnessed by everyone during the campaign period and the election itself, the Rwandan people demonstrated a high level of cooperation with the Rwanda National Police (RNP) in ensuring safe and peaceful elections.

This is attributed to the already established good working relations between the Police and the Public, through RNP’s community policing strategy. The use of the existing Community Policing Committees and sharing of information about the potential security threats resulted into the just concluded incident-free elections.

Furthermore, it is this same cooperation that enabled the Police to apprehend the terrorists who were involved in the recent Kigali City grenade attacks.

It is in this regard that Rwanda National Police highly commends the extra vigilance, tireless efforts and exemplary conduct that characterized all citizens, security and civil organs, local government authorities and Community Policing Committees in ensuring the smooth, safe and peaceful elections.

Rwanda National Police further requests the general public to continue being pro-active, maintaining the existing cooperation in preventing crime, tracking offenders and information sharing to create a prosperous, safe, and stable Rwanda.

Emmanuel K. Gasana
Commissioner General Of Police
