Electrogaz fought off a late surge by Cassie Sociale to win their first game in the basketball category of the National Corporate League played yesterday at Amahoro indoor stadium courts.

Electrogaz dominated the first two quarters but Cassie Sociale seemed like getting back in the game in the third quarter but the electricity and water body team made resisted the pressure to take the fourth quarter.

Thirteen teams will take part in this year’s Corporate League, they include; Bank of Kigali (B.K),Commercial bank of Rwanda (BCR), Rwanda Revenue Authority (R.R.A), Electrogaz, Ministry of Defense (MoD), Bralirwa, Access bank, RAMA, Ministry of Sports and Culture, Orinfor, Kigali Institute of Education, Cassie Sociale, Association of Rwandan Diabetic people.

The teams will play in three different kinds of sport; Basketball, Volleyball and Football. Bralirwa, Bank of Kigali and RAMA won the basketball, football and volleyball categories respectively last year.

The president of the National Corporate League Parfait Busabizwa told Times Sport that the league was delayed by the recent presidential campaigns.

"We did not want to interrupt the presidential campaigns since most the players that play in the league were campaigning for the different presidential candidates,” Busabizwa said.
