Police FC recovered from a poor display in the opening round of the Primus Cup to record a deserved 2-1 victory over Muhanga yesterday at Ferwafa turf.

The win for National Police force team took them top Group D, level on three points with rivals SC Kiyovu but the better goals difference.

Amavubi Stars Cameroon-born Striker Roger Tchouassi scored from a penalty before new signing Meddie Kagere sealed the victory with a second goal. Hassan Neho scored Muhanga’s consolation goal.

Elsewhere, AS Kigali recovered from a 0-3 rout against APR in the opening round on Friday to defeat Musanze 2-1 at Nyamirambo stadium.

Pacific Mwitanawe scored a brace for the Kigali city club while Jackson Karara scored a consolation goal for Musanze.

Southern Province based side, Mukura narrowly survived La Jeunesse wrath at Kicukiro turf. Normal time ended in a goalless draw before teams settled for penalties to decide the winner were Mukura went on to win 3-1.

The Primus Cup action will resume on Tuesday with four matches set to be played at different ground around Kigali.
The tournament, which is being sponsored by brewing giants-Bralirwa to the tune of Rwf 35m features all top flight teams.

The winner of the two-week long tournament will Rwf5m while second, third and fourth placed teams will earn Rfw3m, Rwf2m and Frw1m after the one week tourney.

The Primus Cup is as a curtain raiser for next season which will start on September 10.
