In Kenya we keenly followed the presidential election that was held a few days ago.
Kenya was also going through a similar exercise, voting for a new draft constitution. The world expected Kenya to explode once again like it did in 2008 after the disputed presidential elections but we chose to conduct ourselves in a peaceful manner.
The Rwandan people also followed suit by voting in peace and voting overwhelmingly to President Paul Kagame for another term in office.
Kenya and Rwanda both proved to the world that peaceful elections are possible in Africa and both countries have played their small role to change the negative perception about Africa, more so in the western world.
Congratulations are in order for HE President Kagame on his reelection and of course to the Rwandan people for making a wise choice.
Considering the history and the quick transformation of Rwanda, the world must congratulate Rwandans and their President rather than look for each and every available opportunity to bash them.
My appeal to President Kagame and the people of Rwanda remain focused on what is good for you; besides, the world never came to your aid when you really needed it. Why all the fuss now?
If the West has some spare time they can go and help Somalia and try to bring sensibility in that lawless country. In my many talks I always give the example of Rwanda as a shining star.
