KIGALI - The Forum for Political Parties has announced that Monday’s presidential elections were conducted in a transparent and proper manner.

This was revealed in a statement released yesterday by the Forum’s Executive Secretary, Anicet Kayigema.

"Our observers monitored the election preparations, population participation and election results, and they came up with a report which says that the elections were properly organized,” the statement reads.

The forum also commended the way the voting booths were designed, which they said provided privacy to the voters and also took note of the cleanliness that characterized all the polling stations across the country.
Kayigema stressed that the forum’s observers found that the public were well informed about voting procedures through the media.

According to the statement, there was enough security and election materials arrived on time at the polling stations, "the forum appreciates the good work done by the electoral body.”

On Election Day the forum dispatched 100 observers to all 30 districts in the country and they visited 538 polling stations in 234 sectors across the country.
The forum commended the steps taken by Rwandans in the democratic process based on their right to vote for the candidate of their choice.

The consultative forum is constitutionally recognized in Rwanda as a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas among political organizations on the country’s problems and national policies.
