US coaches here for coaching clinic

NINE vastly experience US College basketball coaches are expected in the country to carry out coaching clinics for upcoming player.

The pair, which is coming here in conjunction with Athletes in Action (AIA), will do the clinics alongside local coaches. They arrive in Rwanda tomorrow (Saturday) from Kenya where they have held similar clinics.

The visiting American coaches include Dan Miles, who has a 39-year coaching career, Roger Kollmansbeger (16 years a top coach) and Eileen Kleifelter, who has been a College coach for 25years.

According to information available to our desk, the training clinics will run from August 16-19 (2- 5pm daily) at Amahoro indoor stadium.

The Americans are here to promote basketball development in Rwanda and they also train their local counterparts a number of things including basketball philosophy, coaching, how to select a team, developing of metal toughness, health and injury prevention among others.

‘Athletes in Action’, a religious-oriented American non profit making organization was started in 1966 with a theme ‘Victory beyond competition’.
