Following an exciting campaign period, the Rwandan people, yesterday, voted and according to the preliminary results released by the National Electoral Commission, the Rwanda Patriotic Front candidate, Paul Kagame, is the winner of the 2010 Presidential elections.

The Rwandan people, having listened to every candidates manifesto, chose to believe that Paul Kagame had their best interests at heart.

The last seven years have seen remarkable achievements in the socio-economic livelihoods of the Rwandan people and they believe that, with Paul Kagame at the helm, the next seven years will see more sustained development in health, education, food security, economic growth, infrastructure and decentralisation.

The margin of victory is not surprising because the people have faith in what he has accomplished so far.
The voting process was held in the peace and tranquillity that we expected, and the police must be lauded for the manner in which they assured security.

The National Electoral Commission have demonstrated that they measure up to the job, by the manner in which they organised a smooth and successful election. The ballot boxes and papers were at the right place at the right time and their staff demonstrated professionalism.

The manner in which the Rwandan people participated in this historic occasion must be commended. Reports from various polling stations indicated that voters had cast their ballot way before the polls closed.  The entire process was a success. Congratulations to Paul Kagame and the Rwandan people.
