Elections peaceful - Police chief

The Commissioner General of the Rwanda National Police, Emmanuel Gasana, has announced that yesterday’s Presidential elections were conducted peacefully across the country.

The Commissioner General of the Rwanda National Police, Emmanuel Gasana, has announced that yesterday’s Presidential elections were conducted peacefully across the country.

Gasana made the remarks at 4p.m just an hour after the closure of polling stations.

"Everything is moving on well. We are effectively monitoring the whole country and so far we have not recorded any incident,” he said.

"From the look of things, people seemed to be happy and there was no sign of anything that could lead to insecurity.”
