The right to vote is not to be scoffed at

Editor,

When I was still living in the Diaspora, before 1994 I had never had a chance to exercise my right to vote. However, ever since the defeat of the racist regime of Habyarimana and Co, I’ve been exercising this right every time I can.

The right to vote, which some people take for granted, is something that Rwandans have been denied.

This election is the second presidential election where every single Rwandan has the opportunity to cast a vote.

Even if you don’t choose to, it’s because you can’t be bothered and not because a government says that you aren’t allowed to.
