RWANDA’S team to the 19th edition of the Commonwealth Games due in Delhi from October 3-14 will start residential training early next month, according to the Executive Director of the national Olympic Committee Thierry Ntwali.

"We will only have three weeks of residential training before the team sets off to Delhi for the games. But between now and then, the athletes will be holding non-residential training,” said Ntwali.

Rwanda was admitted into the commonwealth games federation early this year after becoming the 72nd Commonwealth member state late last year.

Athletes will compete in seven disciplines namely; Aquatics, Athletics, Boxing, Cycling, Table Tennis, Tennis and Power lifting for the disabled.

Assuring the security administrators attending the International Security Liaison Conference , the Organising Committee Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi (OC CWG Delhi 2010) Chairman Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, said that visiting security experts can assure the athletes and sports persons in their respective countries that "All is well in Delhi”.

The Chairman said, "Security is a critical component for the success of the Games. The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Delhi Police  will ensure that the Games are held in a safe and secure environment not only at all the competition and non-competition venues, but throughout the length and breadth of the city of Delhi”.
