• Promoted side first team to get corporate backing

AFTER two clubs namely Electrogaz and Atraco pulled out all football related competitions due to lack of funds, newly promoted La Jeunesse has secured sponsorship from mining company Euro Trade International yesterday.

Euro Trade International Chief Executive Office Martin Kahanovitz said, "We have associated with La Jeunesse for the long term. We will not only support them financially but also secure kits for them on top of paying their monthly salaries.”

"We can’t state the duration of the agreement because we are a big company which has long term investments in Rwanda.

"We are committed to invest with La Jeunesse and it’s up to them to sit down and come up with their budget which will be able to finance in their campaign to stage good performance in the upcoming season,” said Kahanovitz.

After the deal was agreed, La Jeunesse Honorary vice president Boniface Nsabimana noted that with the support from Euro Trade international, the newly promoted side stands a good chance of mixing it well with the already established Primus National League rivals.

"We believe our (young) players will continue to develop into better players as the motivation to do well will be there for them.

"Despite getting this sponsorship, we will not be swayed away from our main principle of promoting the young Rwandan players,” said Nsabimana.

After the deal is signed, the Nyamirambo based side will change its name to La Jeunesse Euro Trade International Football Club (La Jeunesse ETI FC).

All the financial aspects and books of accounts of La Jeunesse will be handled by Euro Trade International.
Kahanovitz has now been officially confirmed as the honorary president of the football club.

La Jeunesse is among 11 first division clubs that will compete in next week’s Primus pre-season tournament. They have been drawn against giants Rayon Sports and Mukura in Group C.
