History portrays that Rwanda does not have a stretched account of written literature, but it was blessed with a strong oral tradition that ranged from poetry to myths. It is through this oral tradition that the country’s ethical values and history are passed on from generation to generation. This is why Interact Rwanda is organising a story telling night slated every after two months in Kigali.

It's debut is slated for today, January 13, at Olympic Hotel, Kimironko from 6pm to 8:30pm.

The story telling event aims at bringing together powerful, inspirational, and well experienced speakers to share their personal real stories and experiences that can help the audience in one way or another. They will also have conversations around depression as one of the biggest threats to humanity right now and how one can build up their self-esteem.

Julius Mugabo, founder of Interact Rwanda, shared that they want to mostly emphasise on fighting depression and low self-esteem through story telling. The event will as well have conversations around different fields in life like business and other careers.

"Having both medical and event planning skills pushed me to think of availing a solution to the most pressing issue the community is facing now days. And the issue was depression and low self-esteem. The contributing factors varying from psychological, biological and social factors like cyber torturing, unemployment, loss of loved one, gender-based violence, bereavement, and so on.

The practice of storytelling and story healing is an essential part of a human being which is why we want to encourage, uplift and facilitate gathering around so that attendees can learn, be inspired, network and get entertained,” he said.

Whatever anyone is going through at the moment, he says there is someone who went through the same things and overcame them, so we believe their stories can inspire others and that is why they want them to share their stories to those who are still in the battle.

The event has invited speakers who will be sharing their stories from scratch to challenges along the way and how they overcame all of that and reached where they currently are. Among the speakers include, Christelle Igiraneza, Medical doctor and founder of Urukundo Initiative Organization, Theo Makombe, author of The Race For Life, Briana Makombe an American expert in cross culture communication and Eric T Murenzi, a businessman.

Entrance fee is 5,000 Rwf for regular and 10,000 Rwf for VIP.
