The tempo of the presidential campaigns currently going on, has indeed shown clearly that Rwandans are aware of their political rights.

 The Rwandan people are now aware of their hard-earned freedoms that allow them to decide their own destiny, principally, through the ballot box.

These gains, registered in the last seven years, must be guarded jealously from those keen on taking Rwanda back to the dark days.

It is, indeed, sad to read reports from sections of the regional media quoting Rwandan fugitives calling for war. The timing of these highly irresponsible utterances is indeed telling. It speaks volumes about the intentions of these individuals.

However, one thing should be clear, Africa, as a continent, has come a long way and no one should be allowed to use any party of its territory for the purposes of frustrating or destroying their aspirations of the African people, no matter which country. 

It is important for all African countries to work for a common purpose that will help secure a brighter future for its entire population. Peace and security are not issues to be taken lightly.

By making an open call to war, the Rwandan fugitives now holed up in South Africa, have, more than anything else, confirmed the validity of the terrorism charges levelled against them by the prosecution authorities in this country.
