94% cleared to vote in Eastern Province

Over 94% of eligible voters in the Eastern Province are expected to cast their votes at various polling stations in the province, come August 9. 503 polling stations have been prepared in the province.

Over 94% of eligible voters in the Eastern Province are expected to cast their votes at various polling stations in the province, come August 9.
 
503 polling stations have been prepared in the province.

Frank Rwigamba Kayiranga, the provincial electoral coordinator, said that the National Electoral Commission (NEC) is satisfied with the numbers.

"Voters registered in record numbers. Of the 1,245,772 expected voters, 1,181,011 are eligible to vote after successfully fulfilling all the requirements,” he said.

According to NEC, the highest number of registered voters in the province is in Gatsibo District, while the lowest is in Kayonza District.

The electorate is expected to start casting their votes at 6.a.m and end at around 3.pm.
