FASHION gurus from across the world will take a good look at the country’s latest trends as the first edition of Rwanda Fashion Festival kicks off.

Under the theme, ‘Image, Inform, and Communication with Human Body’, the festival started yesterday and will run until August 7, with a grand gala at Hôtel des Mille Collines.
The first night of the week’s catwalk at Petite Stade showcased various collections from local fashion shops. Artists, including K8, Makonikoshwa, Diplomat and Tom Close graced the event.

Showcasing everything from local spectacular designs to regional and international elegant trends, Rwanda’s fashion festival has become internationally recognised.

An impressing number of designers from 14 countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Canada and France, will display their creations through the festival’s six days.

The event is organised by Daddy De Maximo, a renowned fashion designer and sponsored by the French Embassy, Hôtel des Mille Collines, TV5, Top Tower Hotel and Heaven Restaurant. The event has given a platform for 40 local models to show off their talent.
