Buffaloes 50-0 lion de fer
Sharks  28-0 Gorillas

CHAMPIONS Buffaloes moved top of the national rugby league after defeating lion de fer 50-0 at Rugunga playground.

The Remera based side which has a couple of Silverbacks players was in fine form as they raced to a 20-0 lead in the first half courtesy of tries from fly-half Juma Adams and full back Eric Mbarushimana.

In the second half, Buffaloes who have already won three trophies this year (Sharks, Buffaloes and Kigali 7s) went on rampage with Adams getting his third try of the game and scrum half Sylvain Nkurunziza getting on the score sheet as well.

Center forward Kevin Makmot added four conversions and penalties to complete the rout.

An ecstatic Buffaloes coach Gerald Nsenga told Times Sport that it will take special performances from rival teams to stop his side from winning an unprecedented fourth league title on the trot.

"The team was magnificent today and though it is still too early (only three matches have been played in the league) to make conclusions, it will take a special performance from the other teams to deny us a fourth title,” Nsenga confidently said.

Meanwhile, Sharks got default points over Gorillas.

Buffaloes now enjoy a four-point lead over Grizzlies who are in second place with 11 points.

Lion de fer and Puma have 10 points each but the Nyamirambo based side is in third place owing to a better try difference.
