Natty Dread at Fespad. The sound system is a disappointment.

Editor,

Although I was happy to see the calibre of artists that the organisers of this years Fespad, Pan-African Dance Festival, I have a gripe that I feel should be aired.

At the concert that occurred on Sunday, which was headlined by Lauryn Hill, five-time Grammy winner and founding member of the Fugees, the sound was terrible.

The sound system made some of the songs barely audible. I don’t understand why we would pay thousands of dollars to have great artistes and then not be able to enjoy them because we didn’t provide them a proper platform.

I advise the Fespad organisers to do something about this; I guess its too late now, but it’s my opinion that before they invite artistes from all over the world, they should hire top rate speakers and what not.

It doesn’t make sense to invite people, pay them a whole lot of money and then not let them show their art. I hope things will be better next time.
