One of the pioneers of audio production in Rwanda Pastor P, real name Patrick Bugingo, has unveiled that he’s cooking in the studio and ready to drop his maiden album after a long time of being inactive in Rwanda’s music industry.

The celebrated producer confirmed his comeback to The New Times in an exclusive interview on Tuesday, January 10, saying that he produced dozens of unreleased tracks that will appear on his first album to debut on September 4.

Dubbed ‘Inka Yanjye’, the 12-track project will be a fusion of modern sounds and traditional vibes which will feature most of the big names in Rwanda’s music industry, the producer told The New Times.

"I’ve done my own research and discovered that most of our songs lack creativity of origin and I made this album to introduce new vibes in our music industry that have a bit of a traditional touch, and I encourage fellow musicians to do so,” Pastor P said.

The producer further noted that Rwandan music is growing at a high pace with a whole new generation that has new vibes, but traditional music has a gap to fill which is why he produced ‘Inka Yanjye’.

"We owe the progress of our music industry to the young generation but traditional singers are not pushing as they should yet if they did, Rwandan music could boost to greater heights,” he noted.

The renowned producer rose to stardom through Narrow Production which he used to run alongside King James. The duo made several hits together including ‘Zizane Tuzinkwe’, ‘Pala Pala’ among others until they parted ways in 2019.

Pastor P has also produced songs for celebrated artists like Meddy, The Ben, Riderman and many others.
