Ibihame by ’Imana

The long-awaited concert of Ibihame by ’Imana, an all-male cultural troupe, is all set for their long-awaited second concert scheduled to take place on January 14, at Kigali Convention Centre.

The concert will be held for the second time after an outstanding performance during their debut concert that took place two years ago at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (former Camp Kigali- Akagera hall) under the theme; Intango kanywabahizi.

Ibihame by’Imana was founded in 2013, by Aimable Bahizi, Olivier Burigo and Emery Igihangange, who were famed dancers from Indahemuka and Imena troupes back in the ‘90s.

The trio shared that the initiative came from their observation that Rwandan traditional dance was being diluted, and somewhat replaced by western dance genres. They then decided to form an all-boy dance troupe that would be a replica of Indashyikirwa, a royal dance troupe in Rwandan history.

Yanick Gatore, dancer, revealed it had been a long time since they held a concert because of the pandemic but now that life got back together they decided to start a New Year with their fans in an extra-ordinary concert. The concert will as well be headlined by their dancers who are also singers like Ruti Joel and Impakanizi.

Gatore said they want to make their concert extra-ordinary and that people should be looking forward to a memorable night.

"We have so much in store for people who will attend and as ‘Intore’ they should expect a lot of dancing as usual. We urge them to come through and witness how unique our culture is,” says Gatore.

Expected to start at 6pm, the show has an entry fee of Rwf5000 (regular), Rwf10, 000 (VIP), and Rwf200, 000 (table of 8).
