NYAGATARE/ GATSIBO - The Liberal Party (PL) candidate for the upcoming Presidential elections, Prosper Higiro, has assured his supporters in Nyagatare and Gatsibo districts that he would make clean water in every village of the country a priority, if elected President.

Higiro was on Friday addressing hundreds of his supporters who had gathered at Katabagemu market grounds in Katabagemu Sector, Nyagatare District.

Speaking to his supporters, the PL flag bearer said that access to clean water is still a problem to many Rwandans especially in the Eastern Province, and promised to solve the issue if they elect him as their President come August 9.

"Access to clean water has been a big issue to many Rwandans, especially in this province…I will, if you elect me as your President, ensure that there’s a borehole for clean water in every village (Umudugudu) of the country. This is one of my primary priorities,” he said.

Before extending his campaigns to Kiramuruzi in Gatsibo District, Higiro reminded party supporters that it is time for PL to come to the limelight and compete with other parties to lead the country.

"You all very well know that our party is now 19 years old…we are mature enough and have achieved a lot that qualifies us to lead the country to sustainable development,” he said.

Higiro also highlighted justice, education for all, and the promotion of family planning as among the priorities he will cement if elected President.

In Kiramuruzi, the PL candidate assured his supporters that he would increase efforts in fighting corruption, facilitating all Rwandans to gain from the East African Community Common Market, among others.
