RUHANGO - The Social Democratic Party (PSD) presidential candidate, Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuliryayo, yesterday, promised to allocate 10% of the National Budget to the agricultural sector.

Campaigning at separate rallies in Ruhango District, Dr. Ntawukuliryayo, said that fulfilling this promise would improve agricultural output, ensure food security, and raise the income of farmers who comprise the largest percentage of the population.

He also emphasised the need to improve infrastructure and increase access to electricity from the current 10% to 35%.

"If voted into power, I will ensure improved standards of living among Rwandans. The party will focus on propelling social and economic development for all Rwandans,” Ntawukuliryayo said.

Other areas of focus, he added, will include improving education and health services and access to clean water and roads.

Ntawukuliryayo was received amidst chants and songs by residents of Kinihira, Kinazi, Mwendo sectors, in Ruhango district.

The residents stated that they were particularly pleased with Ntawukuliryayo’s pledges in education and health services.

"The desire of the youth is to be included in development plans. We want to see the roads constructed so that there is significant development in the rural areas,” one resident said.
