KAMONYI/MUHANGA - The Presidential candidate for the Party for Peace and Concord (PPC), Dr. Alivera Mukabaramba, yesterday, said that if voted into power, the party will focus on improvement of social welfare among its priorities.

Dr. Mukabaramba, the only female contender for the top job, was addressing residents of Kamonyi and Muhanga districts, on the second day of campaigns.

MP Jean-Thierry Karemera, officially invited. Mukabaranga to unveil the party’s manifesto amidst cheers.

She thanked the residents for the warm welcome she received and encouraged them to continue with the same spirit.

"The party joined the race so as to give Rwandans more political opportunity and chances to vote through democracy. We can only achieve this if Rwandans vote for the party on the polling day”, she added.

She stressed the importance of improving the social welfare of Rwandans, propelling economic development and fostering unity of Rwandans among other party priorities.
"With good education, health, availability of jobs and settlements in the country, people will be able to develop.

This can only be attained by upholding the unity of Rwandans of which the party takes as priority,” Mukabaramba said.

She also talked about the party’s manifesto, which, among other things, highlights the promotion of social welfare, equality, unity of Rwandans and regional integration.
Mukabaramba also promised to provide free education from kindergarten, more jobs, strengthen the insurance policy by merging all current health insurance schemes with mutuelle de santé.

She further promised to establish a ministry of social welfare and a programme intended to combat bankruptcy, while modernizing agriculture and livestock sectors.

Residents who spoke to this reporter hailed Mukabaramba, for her articulate presentation of the party’s agenda. They promised to vote for the party, insisting that the promises be implemented when she is elected.

"I think she (Mukabaramba) is a good speaker and the propaganda is well elaborate. Let us hope that this is not politics of words and promises, because we would love to see these aspects materialize,” one resident said.
