KARONGI - A group of Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) supporters in Karongi District yesterday took their campaigns to the streets.

The residents, carrying placards, banners and posters bearing various messages soliciting votes for the incumbent President Paul Kagame, chanted songs praising RPF.

Excited residents who spoke to The New Times maintained that good leadership and democratic governance are very important in the economic and social development of Rwandans.

"Looking back at the hard times we went through as Rwandans, there is no doubt that the right person to vote is President Kagame,” Ernest Musabyimana said.

He singled out peace, security, freedom and women emancipation as some of the tremendous achievements by the government, vowing to win even more votes for RPF.
Most residents expressed hope and confidence in the National Electoral Commission (NEC), to conduct a free and fair election.

"I am sure that NEC has all the requirements to preside over a free and fair election and I cannot wait to see our presidential candidate before we overwhelmingly give him our support,” Drocella Uwamariya, another resident observed.

President Kagame  has added Karongi on his itinerary which he is expected to visit early next week.
