HUYE - Pomp and fanfare characterised the launch of the Rwanda Patriotic Front’s (RPF-Inkontanyi) campaigns in Huye District yesterday.

Women and youth carrying placards marched through Butare town en-route to the stadium.  "Vote Kagame for development,” one placard read.

Thousands of party members clad in RPF branded attire danced to the tunes of party songs, at the Huye football stadium.

Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, who was present at the launch, told the cheering crowd that by voting for Paul Kagame voters were ‘giving the country a second chance.’
He said that the foundation has been laid and what remains is to continue the development path the country has taken.

The Premier enumerated various success stories in the education sector like the universal primary education programme, promotion of science and technology, development of information and communication technology and the promotion of the girl child.

"Paul Kagame has made the country proud in the eyes of other nations, his efforts have been appreciated beyond borders,” Makuza said.

Agnes Uzabakiriho, a resident of Rusatira, said that she owes all that she has attained in the last 16 years to the peace and development programmes ushered in by the RPF.

"I have managed to construct a house because I was empowered economically by the RPF-Inkotanyi, I have also sent my husband back to university yet he had dropped out of school due to lack of school fees,” Uzabakiriho, told the joyous crowd of party supporters.

Party supporters were treated to a thrilling performance by local Rwandan artist Tom Close. Campaigns continue tomorrow at Sector level.
