KIREHE — Police in Kirehe is holding a man for allegedly killing his father over land. Bisangabagabo Valence, 31, also known as Kibindi of Cyunuzi cell Gatore sector is alleged to have killed his father Shyirimaka Syprien 56, using a pang last Friday.

Shyirimaka’s copse was found in a banana plantation next to his house, with his body deformed; his intestines and brains were outside.

Bisangabagabo, admitted the crime saying he accused his father of refusing to hand over a piece of land which he [Bisangabagabo] had got in the late 1990s during the land allocation exercise. He says that by then, his father was in prison over Genocidal crimes.

"I was given part of the land that belonged to my father.”

Bisangabagabo says. He adds that he later went to Benako in Tanzania before leaving for South Africa leaving his wife at behind. He alleges that in his absence, the deceased chased his wife from their house and plot from of land they were given, on being released from prison.

"When I returned from South Africa last year I found my father had reclaimed my house and land,” Bisangabagabo says adding, "I told him to leave my house and build his own but he refused.”

He further says he reported the case to concerned authorities but they could not help him and he started sleeping in bushes and on people’s verandas.

"My father together with his friends tried several times to kill me but failed,” Bisangabagabo alleges.

"I was tired of sleeping outside when I actually had my home and on top of that my father who had taken my land was after my neck. He deserved what he got because he also wished me the same.”

But according to police partial investigations, Bisangabagabo was deported from South Africa over drug abuse, which had reportedly affected his brains. It is reportedly the same reason the deceased had refused to let him own the piece of land.

Sources said Bisangabagabo has been a drug addict and a thief who has been masquerading as a mad man. He is said to have tried to escape arrested by fleeing Burundi.

Police sources said he would be taken to Ndera hospital for brain check up to confirm his sanity before prosecution.
