IT is set to be a tantalizing affair when eight rugby teams tussle it out at Rugunga playground in the Kigali Sevens tournament on Saturday.

The inaugural tournament is being sponsored by Dave Hughes, a passionate rugby fan who also sponsored the national men’s rugby team-Silverbacks to the Kwoloo 10s in Hong Kongo earlier this year.

Buffaloes Coach Gerald Nsenga, whose team claimed the Sharks and Buffaloes 7s earlier this year, expects stiff competition from Grizzlies, Sharks and Lion de fer.

"We are now a target of all teams so we have to be very watchful against the likes of Grizzlies, Sharks and Lion de fer,” he said before adding, "Those three teams have really beefed up their squads this season.”

Buffaloes and Grizzlies will field two teams while Puma, Sharks, Gorrillas and Lion der fer will field one team.

Buffaloes, who are gunning for an unprecedented fourth successive league title, top the league charts with ten points from three matches.
