Unity body roots for accurate reporting

The president of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), Bishop John Rucyahana, has called on the media to always report accurately, saying that would be a descent contribution towards the country’s development.

The president of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), Bishop John Rucyahana, has called on the media to always report accurately, saying that would be a descent contribution towards the country’s development.

He was, yesterday, addressing a press conference which was called to emphasise the need to hold peaceful elections.

"It’s very critical for you as journalists to always be the light of Rwandans; you need to be professional to achieve this,” Rucyahana said. He asked media practitioners to desist from reporting rumors.

The Executive Secretary of NURC, Dr Jean Baptiste Habyarimana, said the country although the country continues to enjoy peace and stability, much more needs to be done.

He called on the media to support NURC in their activities, and to rally citizens to participate in the August 9 presidential elections.
