The opening of the first fully-fledged press centre on Thursday has been something that I’ve been waiting for.

This centre will be the focal point of journalism in Rwanda and will be a place where journalists meet and discuss various issues in an informal manner. And to top it all off, those reporting the August 9th elections will have an invaluable resource that will help make their jobs easier. 

Local and foreign journalists will no longer have excuses for shoddy work. I full expect that more professionalism will be a result of the centre.
