NYAGATARE - The sixth phase of indoor residual spraying is set to kick off in August, Eric Mashukano, an official from the National Programme for the fight against Malaria (PNLP) said.

While meeting social affairs officials in Nyagatare district, on Thursday, Mashukano said there has been a remarkable reduction in malaria infection ever since indoor residual spraying was introduced.

Mashukano urged cooperation among residents during the spraying exercise. "Spraying requires people below 45 years…we need your help in implementing the exercise effectively,” he said.

According to statistics, 3000 people die of malaria every day in sub-Saharan African countries.
