RUSIZI - The Catholic Church, last Sunday, ordained four priests and eight deacons in its Nkanka Parish, Rusizi District, as the Bishop of Cyangugu Diocese marked 30 years of service.

During a mass attended by thousands of Christians, Archbishop John Damascene Bimenyimana, requested the clergymen to concentrate on their divine calling, treat all Christians equally-without segregation- and lead exemplary lives.

Bimenyimana, who appealed to Christians to contribute towards reconstructing Nkanka Parish Church, which was destroyed by an earthquake, said there was need for joint efforts to build the church and the nation.

The newly ordained priests promised to stick to God’s work, the Church and the country.

At the same function, two Catholic fathers, Everest Ndayambaje and Alex Nshimiyimana, celebrated 11 years of priesthood.

Senator Faustin Munyakabera, who was present at the function, hailed the Catholic Church for its developmental activities, but said more needed to done.

"I request you to continue being constructive citizens. You can achieve this by adding more efforts in the implementation of government policies,” said Munyakabera.
