Genocide survivors receive heifers

RUSIZI - Eleven Genocide survivors in Mibirizi cell, Gashonga sector in Rusizi district, on Monday, received heifers and sheep donated by the district. The district Mayor, Fabien Sindayiheba, said other vulnerable residents in the area were set to get similar donations.

RUSIZI - Eleven Genocide survivors in Mibirizi cell, Gashonga sector in Rusizi district, on Monday, received heifers and sheep donated by the district.

The district Mayor, Fabien Sindayiheba, said other vulnerable residents in the area were set to get similar donations. 

"The district will do its best to provide every poor homestead with at least a domestic animal. This programme aims at raising living and health standards of the poor,” said Sindayiheba. 

The beneficiaries commended the government for its decentralization policy, which extended services nearer to the people.

"Apart from easily accessing our leaders, the government has continuously been supportive in eradicating poverty, through donating to survivors,” said one beneficiary. 

The Mayor, called upon the beneficiaries to take good care of the animals, such that they can reproduce and benefit the rest of the community members.
