Congo vs Rwanda

AFTER a one-week break, Rwanda’s U-20 side regroups today for their final preparation stint ahead of the first leg of the 2011 Africa Youth Championship qualifier against Congo Brazzaville on July 24 at Point Noir.

As expected, the 24-provisional team, who are camped at La Palisee hotel, will embark on rigorous training at Ferwafa’s artificial turf under the watchful eye of Sellas Tetteh, who also doubles as head coach of the Amavubi Stars.

The bulk of the team is from APR, Rayon Sport, Kiyovu and Electrogaz.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leone sent Algeria packing from the qualifying rounds on goal aggregates (2-1). Despite the Junior Fennecs securing a 1-0 win in the second leg, Sierra Leone’s 2-0 victory in Freetown a fortnight ago was enough to see the West Africans through.

Sierra Leone will now play Gambia in the next round.
The biannual event will be staged in Tripoli, Libya.
