Religious leaders donate to Genocide orphans

The Forum for Religious leaders in Rusororo sector (IRRA), Gasabo District over the weekend donated an assortment of food stuffs to a group of genocide orphans in Ruhanga Cell in Rusororo sector.

The items worth Rwf350,000 included 10 sacks of maize flour, five sacks of Rice, 25kg of sugar, 25 kg of salt, 2 cartons of soap and 3 cartons of cooking oil.
The donation also included clothes and shoes.

While handing over the goods to the beneficiaries, Reverend George Agaba, who heads the forum for religious leaders in the Sector, said that the donation is aimed at improving the social welfare of Genocide orphans in the area.

"As God’s servants, helping the needy is one of our major responsibilities and priorities in this nation, and Genocide orphans are among the most vulnerable groups in Rwanda,” Rev. Agaba said.

The group also visited Ruhanga Genocide memorial site where they paid tribute to the over 30,000 victims buried at the site.

The vice Executive Secretary of Rusororo Sector in charge of social affairs, Laurence Uwimana, commended the religious leaders for their donation saying that this is a sign of love.

He also asked them to extend support to other Genocide orphans and vulnerable groups in the whole sector.

Rev. Agaba said that they hope to provide food and financial support to Genocide orphans all over Gasabo District next year.
