Government appoints EAC Monetary Union Task Force

KIGALI - A Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame yesterday appointed a 13-person High Level Task Force on the East African Monetary Union (EAMU). The technical team is headed Dr. Thomas Kigabo who will be the Chief Negotiator to be deputized by Amina Rwakunda.

KIGALI - A Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame yesterday appointed a 13-person High Level Task Force on the East African Monetary Union (EAMU).

The technical team is headed Dr. Thomas Kigabo who will be the Chief Negotiator to be deputized by Amina Rwakunda.

Other members of the Task Force include Josiane Barebereho, John Kalisa, Linda Grace Atukunda, Charles Kalimba Aguma, Pascal Ngendahimana, Rehemah Namutebi, Alphonse Murenzi, Anand Sanjeev and Bernardin Kwibwimana.

According to the minutes of the Cabinet meeting, the team will be lead by a steering committee chaired by the Ministers of Finance and Economic Planning, Commerce Trade and Industries, EAC Affairs, Justice and the Central bank Governor.

The meeting also approved a number of Presidential and ministerial decrees including decrees establishing salaries and benefits of judicial practitioners.

Other appointments made by the cabinet include the Irrigation and Mechanization Task Force chaired by Jean Jacques Mbonigaba Muhinda and assisted by Jean Claude Musabyimana.

The Post Harvest and Storage Task Force will be chaired by Francois Nsengiyunva and assisted by Rusandazangaho and Emmanuel Kayiranga.
