A project designed to help groom the youth into responsible citizens and leaders was, on Thursday, launched in Kigali by AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA, a youth association for human rights and development.

The project, dubbed "Youth Responsible Future Leaders of Tomorrow” will specially target students, officials said.

The Executive Secretary of the  association, John Mudakikwa, said that the project will give the youth a platform to interact and share knowledge about human rights promotion, good governance, democracy and tolerance.

He said that the project will have focal points in the country’s 24 institutions of higher learning through which young people will be sensitized on how to become agents of change in their own communities.

"We want young people to become vehicles for our country’s transformation process,” he said.

The project coordinator, Felix Rugamba, said it will actively get involved in promoting unity and reconciliation programmes in the country.

It will run for a period of two years with the financial support from the European Union.
