Mayor commends AIDS-Relief for supporting health centers

NYAMASHEKE - The Nyamasheke district Mayor, Jean Baptiste Habyarimana, has praised AIDS-Relief, for its health initiatives in the district.

The Mayor was speaking at a recent function where AIDS-Relief Rwanda, donated five brand-new Yamaha AG100 motorcycles worth Rwf15m to Gisakura, Kibingo, Mugera, Mukoma and Rangiro heath centers.

The motorcycles will be used to conduct home visits to patients, as well as support community-based HIV testing and counseling services.

"I would like to thank AIDS-Relief for the continuous support they give to our district. Their presence has made Nyamasheke one of the leading districts in fighting HIV,” said Habyarimana.

He called on health center directors to handle the motorcycles with care and to ensure they are properly used to provide quality services to People Living with HIV and AIDS in the district.

The AIDS-Relief Operations Manager at Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Samuel Ndengeye, reaffirmed their commitment to providing comprehensive care to people living with the virus.

"Its part of our commitment to support local partner health facilities in order to provide quality HIV care for People Living with HIV/AIDS,” said Ndengeye.

Previously, the NGO donated two vehicles to Bushenge and Kibogora hospitals.

AIDS-Relief/Rwanda is funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR.
