Naughty Night Babes

Everyone was catered for, including the children at the Merry-go-round.

They are cute, vigorous- twenty-somethings, they saunter in the clubs every night of every week in top-of-the-range attire and their trademark stilettos.

When they are not on the dance- floor popping their booties, they’re swirling on high counter stools toying with straws sticking out of their drinks.

They are always  looking good  and acting a little naughty, although one can easily confuse them with ‘ladies of the night’ (read sex-workers), these babes have class and style, they don the hottest styles, infact, apart from ‘blazing’ up the joint,  they cause no trouble, they buy their own drinks and light their cigarettes.

Those who visit Kigali’s hot-spots definitely rub shoulders with these babes; the question is who are they? Where do they get cash to toss about?

My quest one fine Friday night was to storm one joint to find out.

My luck was at good for I managed to hook-up a specimen of the new breed, this ‘catch’ was clad in a striking black dress, shoulder sweeping earrings and wore a black pair of high-heels.

"Hi,” I greeted, "there’s a shortage of chairs, do you mind if I join you?”

"Permission granted mister …?”
"Jacob,” I clarified.

"By the way, you’re wearing a tight perfume,” I commented after exchanging pleasantries.

I was about to pop the question when two of her friends stormed in. I excused myself and change position; this is when I bumped into Maggie, my old pal, and a big-time party animal.

"Now you’re chasing cold-beds?” Maggie teased.
"Cold-beds?” I inquired.

"Yes,” she pointed in the direction of my ‘lost catch’, we sat and she filled-me-in.

"They’re called  ‘Cold-beds’ because they never sleep in their beds at night. These girls are innocent -party animals, they just love going out to have a good time and most are from well-to-do-families. They not only club, but also grace other events, like if you have a birthday-bash and you want it to be ‘alive’, you call one of them and ask her to bring friends, they spice up any occasion.”

"Even though they are not doing anything bad out there, but society has a way of judging them. As a Rwandan, I don’t support girls frequenting night- joints, this will stain not only their reputations but that of all Rwandan ladies,” Maggie explained.

"It’s totally un-cool and ‘un-Rwandan’, there’s no away I can date such a lady, we guys likes girls who’re kind of reserved with a bit of self-respect,” said Jackson, a gentleman happened to be seated on our table.

"Yes, we did embrace gender equality, but our girls shouldn’t lunge into detrimental behaviors just because their male counterparts are into them, like smoking, over- drinking or other degrading behavior,” advised Doctor Theresa Asiimwe, a psychiatrist at Kanombe Military Hospital and a mother of two.

This doesn’t mean ladies shouldn’t go out, but they should always keep in mind that too much of everything isn’t good.
