FULLY aware that the upcoming inter-club championship will be a perimeter for selecting athletes who will compete in the Africa Senior Athletics Championship from July 28 to August 1 in Nairobi, local athletes have been training tirelessly to get on the team.

The local athletics federation Secretary General Jack Ngabonziza told Times Sport that he was impressed with the level of commitment from the athletes.

"The inter-club competition will determine who gets to compete in Nairobi so everyone is working hard to get on the team.”

Rwanda will compete in short and long distance races.
Meanwhile, it’s now all systems go for the Championship after a team from the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), on the final inspection tour to the country, gave their thumbs up to the event.

The high-powered continental body’s delegation, led by retired Namibian sprint star Frankie Fredricks who is CAA’s Technical Delegate, conducted a three-day private scrutiny of facilities in place for the 17th edition of the track and field showpiece.
